Day 1: REYKJAVIK-THORSMORK VALLEY
We pick you up at your hotel/guesthouse in Reykjavík between 7:00 and 7:30 am. You can also meet us at BSI at 7:30 am. BSI is the main bus station on Vatnsmýrarvegi Street 10, 101 Reykjavík, it´s very easy to access. We drive along the beautiful South shore of Iceland to our first stop which is the waterfall Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk behind it as the water falls off the cliffs. We will continue our trip to Thorsmork over un-bridged rivers stopping by an impressive Gigjokull, the glacial tongue at the back of Eyjafjallajokull glacier. Once in Thorsmork, there is a lot to see and we will spend the day exploring this unique place. We will walk on many interesting and accessible paths that go around the valley. From Básar we will head to Langidalur crossing a bridge on wheels, specially constructed to make possible the crisscrossing of the glacial strong river Króssa, which can change its stretch during the seasons of the year. We will hike on Valahnjúkur mountain with a beautiful overview of the valley and Laugavegur Trek. Downhill exploring the area we will discover an amazing and hidden in the rocks a Song cave with its waterfall. Our next stop will be Húsadalur Valley where we take a short break and go back passing by a legendary Snorraríki´s cave, that requires a short climb to get into for those who dare. In the evening, your guide will prepare a nice meal followed by a tasty dessert.

We will walk up to the two twins volcanoes emerged after the Eyjafjallajökull eruption in 2010, Magni and Móði the sons of Thor. On the way, we pass by a "waterfall" of lava formed as a consequence of the same volcano eruption. Here, it´s a perfect place to appreciate effects of steady geodynamic activity of the earth and how Iceland is still being constructed. This is a ca. 16 km route with fantastic and breathtaking views over Eyjafjallajökull Glacier and Volcano, Mýrðalsjökull Glacier with its Katla Volcano underneath and Thorsmork Valley.
